Finding your writing niche.

So, you want to start a blog? First off let me tell you, I am proud of you for taking this step towards success. This is the first phase in getting this blog up and off the ground. You are going to notice that a lot of things are foreign to you, but in time you will figure it all out. The big thing you need to focus on first is "what the heck am going to write about". That topic you are looking for is called a niche. A niche is a comfortable or suitable position in life or employment. In this case we mean in your blog. What are you comfortable writing about, what do you know. You do not have to be an expert in cooking to make a food blog. There are somethings you do need to know to be successful though.

Lets think about a few things for a minute. What do you like do? Do you have any talents? What do you know a lot about? These are just a few question you can ask yourself to help push along this process. Your niche should be either something you know or something you can easily do yourself. You might be a hair stylist who starts a Fashion blog, or a Bookkeeper who starts a budgeting/ savings blog. The point is to understand is that google search amount 1.2 trillion a day, you want to the answer to some of those searches. You want your blog to the the best place to find information on any and all things ____________.

The next thing is research. you are going to need to research the ins and put to your niche. Remember those question from the previous paragraph. When finding your niche those are some of the question you will need to ask yourself. There is a big difference in knowing what your niche is and having a true understanding of. If you are going at this with something you already know, never stop learning. Always find ways to increase your knowledge on the topic. If you learning about your topic niche be transparent. Let everyone know you are learning so your audience knows they are learning with you.

After you have found your niche it is time to make sure its something you can use. You will need to sit down and truly start to write out a list of blog topics. If you can only find a hand full of things to talk about you need to either change topic or widen your scope. You want to make sure you have tons of things you can talk about and tons of different places to go. By doing this you set yourself up for life. This is a blog with endless opportunities, ones like this, so make it special. Finding your niche is almost like finding yourself. Never give up on your dream, just learn how to reroute your course.
