Olorun Ruler Of The Heavens

Olorun in Yoruba means The ruler of the Heaven. In Yoruba mythology Olorun was given his name by oracles to one of the three manifestations of the Supreme. He is associated with the heavens and the sun, also he is the Trinity you see in Christianity, a three-in-one creator Olorun, Olodumare, and Olofi. Olofun is the most powerful and wiest of all the deities and is head of the pantheon.In Yoruba legend, Olorun was one of two original creator gods. The other was the goddess Olokun. In the beginning, as in Christianity, the universe consisted only of sky and a the chaosof marshy water.

Olorun ruled the sky, and Olokun ruled the vast waters. There were thousands of other gods, but none had as much knowledge or power as Olorun.Although Olokun was content with her watery kingdom,someone had ideas about improving her kingdom. Olorun suggested the creation of solid land, with fields and forests, hills and valleys, and various living things to populate it. Olorun agreed that this would be good and gave Obatala permission to create land.
